About this School Project (1st Grade Exploration with Expression Through Color)
1st grade artists looked at Larry Poons' "Untitled" (1969), which is displayed at the Cleveland Museum of Art, and Mark Rothko's "Composition:, 1959! Students identified what feelings they associated with the Elements of Art both artists used. Students were challenged to use lines and colors to express a feeling. Can you guess what feeling (calm, mad, happy, or excited) your artist was expressing?
Students were working toward the following Ohio Visual Art Standard:
1.3CO Communicate personal emotions and read emotional content in works of art.
