About this School Project (Van Gogh Wheatfield with Crows Paintings)
First grade students used Visual Thinking Strategies to "read" the painting, "Wheatfield with Crows," by artist Vincent van Gogh. They noticed the sway of the textured brushstrokes in the field and thought that movement could be caused by a breeze, they also deduced that that the yellowish area was wheat, and that there was a road disappearing into the distance. They mixed colors to create a textured landscape in the manner of van Gogh.
