Artist Statement (what Chloi22 said about their artwork)
I made this artwork because we are learning about the Middle Ages, and this is an example of Byzantine mosaic.
First, using pencil I drew a basic outline of my subject. First using a finger-painting technique, I dotted all the skin tones. Next, we detailed the face with a skinny paintbrush. Then, we dotted the whole background with color to give the impression of a mosaic. Lastly, I outlined everything with a thin brush, and I added glitter to various spots.
I learned a bit about the Middle Ages, I also learned how to make a finger-point mosaic.
