About this School Project (Frank Stella Line and Shape Collage)
Students heard about the life and artwork of Frank Stella. Stella is known for his abstract art work depicting a variety of shapes, bold lines, and textures. He created paintings, prints, and even sculptures which he called "assemblages." For their project students defined and identified geometric and organic shapes. They cut out at least 5 geometric and 2 organic shapes using a variety of neon paper colors and decorated each shape with a different type of line using neon sharpie marker. For the background they painted lines using neon colors in black light on black paper. After arranging all their shapes so some overlap in spots, they glued everything to make a collage inspired by Stella's assemblages.
