About this School Project (3 Paul Kleé Hidden Faces)
These abstract artworks are inspired by Paul Kleé. We looked at his work, and talked about the differences of realistic artworks, and those which are abstract (have a recognizable subject that has been changed in some way). We looked at many of his paintings to find hidden objects. We started by drawing vertical and horizontal lines, then added curves to connect them. With our pages sectioned off, we added simple everyday images, his letters or numbers, and lastly hid some faces. Students designed a specific color scheme for their drawings, and used oil crayons to apply bold colors. To complete the pieces, we employed the sgraffito technique to add small details and texture to certain areas.
