About this School Project (Kindergarten Sunflowers)
Sunflowers was a lesson in oil pastel and watercolor...a resist process. This was a directed drawing focusing on adding to their knowledge and ability to draw common shapes and concepts of a flower. The students were inspired by one of many versions of sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh. Kindergartners began by creating a practice drawing of sunflowers focusing on identifying shapes observed from a real sunflower. The emphasis of this lesson was to introduce Van Gogh, hand/eye coordination, overall composition, thinking or planning before drawing, using oil pastels, and the resist process.
