About this School Project (2-3rd grade Art Club - Pop Art Donuts)
Students in art club explored Pop Art and discussed how pop artists of the 1950's used bright colors and bold patterns, and often featured everyday items such as foods, brands, famous people, or mass produced items. Students looked at the work of several artists who feature donuts in their paintings, drawings, and sculptures, and then designed their own pop art donut artwork. Four donuts were drawn from a side angle view and students were asked to add glaze and other unique toppings to each donut. Next, a background was created, everything was outlined in sharpie, and watercolor paints were added to create four donuts scenes in a grid.
