About this School Project (King Tut Profile)
Students learned about King Tutankhamun, King Tut, the boy king who became king at nine years old. He was king from 1333 BC to 1323 BC. The discovery of his tomb was in 1922 by Howard Carter. The entrance was buried with sand and rocks. Most ancient tombs were robbed by thieves but not King Tuts, almost everything was still there! The golden death mask filled with jewels and blue lapis lazuli is the most iconic work of art from ancient Egypt. Most Egyptian paintings/frescos portrayed people in profile views or side views so when creating our artwork we also created a profile portrait of King Tut.
Many art museums in the USA have Egyptian art including museums in Boston, New York City, Chicago, Connecticut, Washington DC, Cleveland, Memphis, LA, San Jose, and Pittsburg. Tell Mrs. Harnish if you go and see some Egyptian Art.
