About this School Project (Kindergarten Collage Artists are Principled & Knowledgeable)
Kindergarten artists continued to focus on the IB PYP Theme “How We Organize Ourselves.” They identified how to use liquid glue so that objects they glued could stay attached while also making sure there would be glue for other artists. We focused on what it means to be a principled artist. Being principled is one of the IB PYP Learner Profile Attributes. Being principled by taking care of materials, using a small amount of special collage materials (like feathers, googly eyes, and sequins), and doing the right thing even when a teacher is not right next to you helps all students get to enjoy art class and a variety of art materials! After the liquid glue dried, students cut out their stars, caterpillars, and/ or birds and decided what other materials they wanted to use to complete their work of art. Students used their creativity and knowledge of art materials to add to their work of art with drawing, collage, and/ or painting materials! Ask your artist what their favorite art material is to use!
Students were working toward the following Ohio Visual Art Standards:
K.2PE Explore a variety of materials and tools to create works of art.
K.3PE Communicate an idea using the elements of art.
K.1RE Use visual art vocabulary to distinguish between art forms
