Artist Statement (what Abbigail1462 said about their artwork)
My favorite part of making this artwork would be when we made the pinch pots and general form of the pumpkin, with my least favorite part being glazing. The inspiration for creating this work would be the white pumpkins at pumpkin patches. To me they seem detailed and intricate. Something about the work I would change would be the color and the rotation of the stem. The color is darker than I thought I would be so if I could change it I would choose a lighter color, and the stem was put on slightly backwards so I would rotate it a little more. Some concepts I learned while creating this pumpkin would be that when putting two pieces of clay together, the air between the two will support it and allow me to shape the pumpkin how I wanted to. Something that surprised me about this artwork was the glazing and how it turned out after being fired.
