Artist Statement (what Shane8257 said about their artwork)
I used texture and color as well as Implied texture to make a collage of my ducks. Dean Russo & Heather Galler are both New York artists who used animals and collages. My color scheme was cool and Ducky is the female she is the bottom one in the photo she likes to swim and eat food while Gibbs is the (male?) he likes to make sure none of the other animals mess with Ducky and he likes to chase our rooster.
About this School Project (Texture Pets)
Students learned about the element of art texture for this project. We talked about how repeated lines and shapes make patterns and patterns mixed together make texture in our works of art. Students brought in pictures of their pets and they sketched them four different ways; realistic, abstract, cartoon, and free choice. They picked their favorite and we created cardboard sculptures. The artists that inspired us for this project were Dean Russo and Heather Galler.
