About this School Project (2 - Native American Symbols)
We listened to the book The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush by Tomie dePaola and learned how Native Americans had to use things from nature to paint with. Students then dyed their own papers using yellow flowers, raspberries & blackberries. Once they were dry, they tore the edges of their paper to resemble a canvas made from buckskin, and added the Native American symbol of their choice using charcoal.
