About this School Project (4th: Tim Burton Portrait)
Students learned about artist, animator, and film-maker Tim Burton. He made the movies Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and more! He is known for his stop-motion animation films and having a unique style when creating his characters with big eyes and small noses. Students chose whether they wanted to make a spooky character inspired by his Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and Frankenweenie characters or a more cuter approach inspired by his James and the Giant Peach characters. They drew on grey or brown paper and looked at different eyes, noses, mouths, and head shapes to create their own Tim Burton inspired character. We used 6B pencils and tortillons (blenders) to add shadows to our faces and white chalk to add highlights.
