About this School Project (Birch Trees)
We started our project by learning about color palettes and textures. Then we used these concepts to help us create a mixed media fall landscape painting. They learned how to create the illusion of depth in an artwork with a horizon line, overlapping objects, and color values. Students used watercolor, acrylic paint, colored pencil, and sharpie to create these stunning birch tree landscapes. To create the bark texture they learned how to use a piece of cardboard to scratch against the paper's surface and the warm colors of the leaves were applied using a dampened sponge.
