About this School Project (Agamograph Project)
Students learn that an Agamograph is an art form that uses optical illusion to change the image seen in an artwork, depending on the vantage point of the viewer. Another name for an agamograph is a “lenticular.” Agamographs are named after Yaacov Agam, the Israeli artist who created the agamograph.
Take this opportunity to be clever in solving this problem.
1) There are 2 points of view! How are you going to uniquely represent the 2 sides?
2) You may choose to produce opposites (i.e., grayscale vs. color, subjects areas).
3) You may choose a theme (characters, scenes, people/portraits, book covers, master studies, animals, travel/places.
4) You may be metaphorical: there are two sides to every story.
5) You may use different media (pen & ink vs. colored pencil).
You are graded on: Good use of class time (using all the days to refine your idea and finished product), craftsmanship, creative idea/unique, effort, and written artist statement (revealing much about yourself and your artistic process).
