About this School Project (1st grade - Imaginary Creatures)
Students in first grade explored how artists come up with ideas. They learned that IMAGINATION is not only important when creating new ideas but also needed to solve problems! First graders heard the story of how Japanese gamemaker, Satoshi Tajiri, used his imagination to create hundreds of creatures for his video game inspired by his childhood passion for finding and collecting insects. Tajiri’s video game, known as Pokemon, currently has over 898 different creatures, each with unique features and powers, and is known and played worldwide. Students used their imagination to create their own imaginary creature drawings using watercolor paints, markers, and colored pencils.
