Artist Statement (what Abby14370 said about their artwork)
My idea for this pinch pot was to create a pot with circular indents surrounding the center and verticle lines going in between each indent. I made the pot by creating a sphere of clay, then sticking my thumb through the middle of it and molding it to create a bowl shape. After that, I made a clay cylinder to form the pot's foot. One challenge I faced was my pot being too wet to carve into. I resolved the challenge by using a variety of tools to get the result I wanted. I like the color of the matte blue glaze with brown spots, but I could have covered the pot in it more thoroughly to ensure that the white color of the clay did not show around the indents. I like how the matte glaze turned out, but I wish I had taken more time shaping the pot to ensure that it is circular rather than lopsided. I also wish I used a different color glaze for the inside of the pot and for the circular indents surrounding the perimeter.
