About this School Project (4/5 Mind Your Monsters!)
Fourth and fifth grade student's read "Mind Your Monsters" and filled a few sketchbook pages with transparent jar ideas and creative monsters. We looked back at the illustrations in the story and discussed how the artist used implied or visual texture to make some monsters look like they would feel slimy, or bumpy, or smooth! We also noticed how some of the monsters were translucent and the things they ate could be seen inside them.
Students chose their favorite monster and their favorite jar and put their own interesting illustration together. We made sure to include textures and shaded our monsters and shiny glass jars with colored pencils.
