PROJECT:
Create a personalized artist-sketchbook (front and back cover) that contains a SATURATED base-color of paint and a PATTERN consisting of at least three LINE, SHAPE ELEMENTS. Successfully BIND your sketchbook using the rubber-band and paper-clip book-binding method presented in class.
MATERIALS:
9 x 12" white folders (one per student)
20 sheets of 8.5 x 11" white, copy paper (per student)
2-hole punch
Thick rubber bands in a variety of colors.
Large paper clips in a variety of colors.
Tempera paint.
Brushes and palettes
Patterned stamps and rollers
Old Toothbrushes (splatter painting)
Pre-printed student name tags on white copy paper
Colored markers
Scissors
Glue sticks

3. What Elements and Principles of Design are found in a pattern?
OBJECTIVES:
1. The purpose of an artist sketchbook is to provide a space for the
recording of ideas, inspirations, artistic expressions, and artistic
experimentations.
2. Book binding is the process of holding a book cover and its contents together. Processes could include glue, sewing, or non-traditional methods such as our paper-clip and rubber-band method.
3. The Elements and Principles of Design that are typically included in a pattern are: lines, shapes, and colors that repeat (repetition).
