About this School Project (Calligraphy Initial-4th)
Fourth grade artists listened to the story "Silent Music: A Story of Baghdad" by James Rumford. This story is about a boy who finds comfort in the art of calligraphy. We discussed how cursive is a type of writing we learn similar to calligraphy. Artists created a background using cursive or a calligraphy style letter that was then painted with watercolor paint. The second step involved artists adding a block-style letter over the top of the background.
