About this School Project (5-A Amedeo Modigliani Inspired Portraits)
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) was an Italian artist who worked in Paris. He is famous for painting figures with elongated necks and oval faces. Modigliani worked during the Expressionist Period and was greatly influenced by African art, especially African masks. For this art project, students used his style to create self-portraits with exaggerated proportions. Students used oil pastels to color in their portraits and create a velvet like appearance.
