About this School Project (2nd Grade- Autumn Leaves in Water)
Students drew a large leaf on their paper using a photo reference as a guide. They filled the inside with paint sticks using bright, warm colors to represent the changing colors of leaves in the autumn. Next, they traced the outline and veins of their leaf with black oil pastel to make them pop. For the background, they were asked to paint with cool colors, such as blue, green and purple to represent the pond or puddle their leaf had fallen on. Finally, student used stipple brushes to add repeated dots of white, blue, green and purple to represent the movement of the water ripples.
