Artist Statement (what Kaela489 said about their artwork)
I was proud of my coils because they were neat and tight but when I started putting the vase together it started to get a little messy. I was trying to make the vase become wider as it got taller but I failed and just built straight up. If I were to try this piece again I would stick to just building straight up because I think that would make it neater. I have never done anything like this, the whole process of coiling the paper and building it into a vase was new to me. To create this I twirled cut pieces of newspaper into circles. I started with a big circle as the base and made tiny circles for the whole thing. The bottom and top row of my vase are tiny circles and I used the white news paper for those ones. The middle of the vase has bigger circles with colored news paper on the outside. I tried using a lot of blue.
