About this School Project (Kindergarten Zoomed in Perspective Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe)
Students looked at several of artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s flower paintings. They identified the lines and shapes O’Keeffe used to create them and how she used the space on her artwork. They identified how she used the space on the paper to draw and paint a close-up perspective. Students drew their own "zoomed in perspective" of a flower. They used permanent markers to create the shapes of their flowers and paint markers to add color. Many students experimented, making new colors by overlapping and blending with water and a paintbrush!
Students were working toward the following Ohio Visual Art Benchmarks:
K.3CR Discover how the elements of art can be used in artmaking.
K.1PE Demonstrate willingness to try new processes.
K.3RE Observe and describe works of art.
K.3CO Share personal responses to works of art and acknowledge the opinions of others.
