About this School Project (Rainbow Umbrellas)
This lesson is based on the book The Big Umbrella by Amy June Bates, is a story about helping others and being inclusive. There is always room under the umbrella for anyone who needs its shelter, which is a great lesson for younger students about having room in their hearts for others. Along with the SEL Connection, this lesson also teaches students about mixing primary colors to make secondary colors, using a variety of lines and a fun stamping technique to create the rain.
Project Goals:
Today I will learn about COLOR so that I CAN mix PRIMARY colors to make the SECONDARY COLORS: ORANGE, GREEN and VIOLET.
Today I will learn about LINE so that I CAN add VERTICAL, HORIZONTAL and DIAGONAL LINES to add interest to the clothing.
Today I will learn about REPETITION so that I CAN STAMP the rain onto the umbrella and sky.
