About this School Project (Kindergarten Fruit and Vegetable Collage)
After exploring the life and work of Henri Matisse, Kindergarten students created their own Vegetable collage using organic and geometric shapes.
Students were read a story of the life of Henri Matisse, and how he adapted to creating art while confined to a wheelchair when he became ill. Matisse learned to "draw with scissors" and continue to create art despite his illness.
Students were asked to include the following in their work...
-A background full of geometric shapes, including a variety of colors
-3 or more fruits or vegetables made by cutting geometric shapes into organic shapes
-Students can add details after all shapes are glued down
