Artist Statement (what Aubree1323 said about their artwork)
My favorite part of this project was seeing the finished product and seeing it all come together. My least favorite part was outlining because I had to make sure it was perfect and in the right spot. My inspiration was the comic picture I picked out. If I did this again I would pick a different picture because this one had a lot of detail and I think I would need more time. I learned that art is not all about the beauty but the detail. I was surprised at the end when it all came together because it didn't look that bad and you cant tell that I used a grid. I created a pizza delivery guy deliver pizza during Christmas and he was dressed up as Santa Claus and the customer mad a joke about it.
About this School Project (Enlarged Comic - Grid Enlarging Method-6th & 7th)
The students are learning some basic drawing techniques of using a Grid to transfer and image and change the size at the same time. We are starting with a simple, very small colored comic pane from the newspaper, dividing the space into a 4X4 grid and matching it to a larger paper set up the same way. We then start with the easiest square and proceed to the more difficult. Next we outline with black marker and begin filling with crayon color to match our original comic as best we can. The students usually love this project and are quite pleased with their successful results. We hope you enjoy our show!
