Artist Statement (what Didi29 said about their artwork)
I like go I managed to make Emma’s hat look blond despite the fact that in the original picture it is mainly black with strokes of white ( on the left half) . I don’t like how her eyes look like they are looking forward instead of up like the photo. If I could change it I would have made some parts darker so it’s more like the photo.
I learned how to use, blend and shade with charcoal. And how to get different shades using the same two colors. I also learned how to use a grid in my drawings. I was surprised that there was white charcoal too and that blending stumps were made of paper.
To make this artwork I first took and selected the picture. Then, using the grid I drew that shapes, shadows a light parts of the photo in each box individually. Then, when I was happy with it, I transferred the drawing ( with out the grid) onto my final paper. Next I layered the charcoal to form the shapes shadows and lights of the drawing. Then, I cleaned up the edges and put on some of the final details. Finally I cut the edges and sprayed my work so that it stays longer and is more permanent
