About this School Project (1st: Wild Things!!)
Students learned about Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are book! He illustrated and wrote the book. They looked at his drawing style and added texture lines to make their monsters look hairy, scaley, spikey, etc. and also learned about how cross-hatching is a type of shading that helps pictures look more realistic. Students drew x's where they wanted shadows to go and colored harder with colored pencils to add value to their work. The backgrounds were made by chalk pastels rubbing to create the brilliant skies!
