About this School Project (1st Gr. Emphasis on a Very Special Person)
First-grade artists focused on lines, shapes, and space (3 elements of art) as they were drawing people. Students then picked a person that is special to them to draw. They made sure to think about the colors they wanted to use and chose the drawing materials they thought would work best. Students then used paint markers or oil pastels to create emphasis (a principle of art and design) on their special person.
Students were working toward the following Ohio Visual Art Standards:
1.3CR Experiment with various elements of art to communicate meaning.
1.3PE Convey ideas and emotions using the elements of art.
