LINES & PATTERNS: Pattern Creation Worksheets
Our Lines & Patterns Unit begins with identifying THE MOST COMMON TYPES OF LINES FOUND IN ART. We do this through a LINE INFORMATION SHEET, a LINE DRAWING WORKSHEET PACKET, and through a SLIDESHOW OF WORKS OF ART where students find these common types of lines within each art work and trace over them on the projection screen. Next, we learn about PATTERNS in art.
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS
1. What is a pattern?
2. What can be included in a pattern?
3. What is repetition?
4. Where can we find patterns?
PROJECT
Working from your PATTERN CREATION WORKSHEETS, choose 4 of the 8 line, dot, and shape choices to create a (repeating) pattern. Your color choices must also repeat. Fill the entire drawing space, top to bottom, with your pattern.
MATERIALS
Pattern Creation Worksheets
Crayola Markers, Gel Pens, Color Pencils
