About this School Project (Magic Monsters)
Students will first learn about the differences between 2D and 3D artwork. We will discuss how all of our artwork so far this year has been 2D on flat paper. Students will have an exploratory day of sculpting with playdough. Students will have time to sculpt something, I willprovide suggestions during this process of what to try sculpting. Then we will take breaks for mini gallery walks to see what their peers are creating. Students will repeat this process a few times, each time sculpting something new.
Next using Model magic in white with small chunks of three other colors students will learn about sculpting a "Magic Monster/Alien"
Students can leave the body of their monster white or mix one of their colors into the white to create a lighter tint of the color that was added to the white. Then they can add any additional body parts to their creature. They will also have the option of the number of eyes they want their creature to have. Eyes come in a variety of sizes for the students to pick from to complete their sculpture.
