About this School Project (Clay Turtles)
Students made a ball ("sphere") of clay and then flattened it on a texture plate to make a textured circle shell. Next they rolled coils of the earthen clay and attached them to create legs, tail and a head. Once the clay was fired in a kiln, students painted the shell using tempera cakes.
