About this School Project (Van Gogh Inspired Wheatfield Painting)
The students learned about Vincent Van Gogh and his thickly applied paint called impasto. Using Van Gogh's Wheatfield With Crows as inspiration, the students drew a horizon line with path to show the illusion on distance within the artwork. Then mixed tempera paint and cornstarch to create thick paint to paint their drawing. Oil pastels were used to add details on the path and wheat as well as draw crows in the sky.
