About this School Project (2-Chalk Pastel Landscape)

Second graders studied about various color schemes before drawing a landscape with gel glue on black paper. Each image included a foreground, middle ground, and background to show depth in the drawing. Color was added with chalk pastel. If the land was colored with warm colors, the sky became cool. If cool colors were used for the land the sky had to be colored with warm colors. Students experimented with blending to create new colors. Highlights and shadows were added to each shape to give the illusion of three-dimensions or form. Once the colors were added the shiny black lines became more prominent.
