About this School Project (3rd- O'Keefe Inspired Abstract Flowers)
Enduring Idea: Observation/Perception
Students explored the work Georgia O'Keefe and discussed how she "zoomed in" like a camera on some of her favorite subject matter" flowers and plants" to abstract it and illuminate its beauty.
Students drew sketches from flowers on their tables using viewfinders to zoom in on their artwork. Next, they enlarged these sketches, and outlined them. Then, we explored how artist use warm and cool colors to create mood in their artwork. Students selected either warm or cool colors and blended different values to create this dynamic piece.
