About this School Project (Texture Quilts)
Kindergarten and Extensions students learned about the element of texture and used rubbing plates to create different textures in each square of their quilt. They then used watercolor paints to brush over their patterns and learned about crayon/watercolor resist as they watched the paint bead up and move off of their crayon textures. Students practiced their fine motor skills by squeezing neat lines of glue between their squares and placing scraps of yarn along their glue. Artists finished this lesson with a quick sewing lesson by adding whip stitch along their edges.
