About this School Project (4th grade Felted Landscape)
Students in 4th grade were introduced to needle felting! They learned that felting is an ancient craft and one of the methods of textile production used on the Silk Road (130 B.C.E. until 1453 C.E.). Students watched a demonstration and learned how to use a felting needle to weave wool roving onto pressed felt to create a landscape. Each student designed a unique landscape and was asked to add small amounts of color variation to the ground and sky to create visual interest and depth. Students also added a tree or trees to their work, and some students added optional details such as a tree, bush, flower, sun, or cloud in their piece.
