About this School Project (Ojos de Dios)
The Huichol Indians are a tribe from Central America known for making Ojos de Dios, or Eyes of God. It is a tradition for a family member of a new child to start a God’s Eye for that child with two sticks and some yarn, and a new color is added for every birthday up to the age of 5. Once the child turns 5, the God’s Eye is completed and is believed to provide protection for that child. Ojos de Dios are a form of weaving.
