About this School Project (2nd: Wescoat Whimsical Trees)
Students learned about contemporary artist, Natasha Wescoat. The first day we explored abstract paintings and color mixing while painting our abstract, colorful backgrounds. We reviewed color mixing and which colors look good when they are mixed together, and opposite colors on the color wheel turn brown when mixed together. Then we looked at Wescoat's most famous works of whimsical trees with abstract circle leaves and colorful hills. Students used black India Ink to make their own swirly trees and collaged circles onto their skies. We also colored colorful designs in the hills with hard pastels that look nice and bright on colored paper and painted paper!
