About this School Project (1st: Picasso Selfies)
Students learned about Spanish Artist, Pablo Picasso, and his abstract art style called Cubism. Cubism is a type of abstract art that uses geometric shapes and lines in the painting to create a more interesting picture. Students looked at Picasso's silly portraits and drew a self-portrait with facial features inspired by Picasso's style. Students then learned about blending colors with crayons to create a resist painting with watercolor. They learned about which colors mix well together to make pretty colors and which colors do not mix well together. They painted their backgrounds and a few shapes on their face.
