I like this artwork because I love snow falling in we are about to go to the mountains
About this School Project (2nd - 5th Snowflake Cyanotypes)
2nd through 5th grade students learned about the artist/scientist/farmer Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley. They learned about the perseverance and passion behind his work and marveled at the worlds first-ever photographs of snowflakes that he was able to capture in the late 1800's. Students spent 1-2 class periods creating their own symmetrical cut snowflakes. Students then learned about the earliest form of photography, cyanotypes, and used the process to capture a "photograph" of their cut snowflakes.
