About this School Project (My body bends when I)
The first day of this project we discussed how we all knew how to draw people using shapes, but our figures were often times very static. We looked at a plethora of athletes, musicians, artists and other people doing activities that require their bodies to bend and move. We pointed out the joints in our body and used plastic movable figures to help us sketch bodies that bend. Once we chose something that was important in our own lives, we sketched out our bodies doing that activity. We used primary colors to make secondary colors and black and white to add shades and tints. The artists of inspiration were French artist Edgar Degas with a focus on his dancers and Black American artist and illustrator Kadir Nelson. After we were done painting we used color pencils to add the details.
