About this School Project (104 Tingatinga Giraffes)
This week, students learned about Kenya and Tanzania, focusing on land forms that make it a tourist destination. Lake Victoria, Mount Kilamanjaro, the animals of the Savannah, and the reefs on the coast draw travelers from all over. Artist Edward Tingatinga created colorful paintings showcasing the animals of Africa, and many artists have been inspired by his work. First graders painted these fun giraffes inspired by this region and these artists, and they watched a cartoon designed in this style called “Why Giraffe Has a Long Neck”. They practiced brush techniques and experimented with various objects to add stamped circles and lines to their work.
