About this School Project (Community Curtain)
3rd and 4th grade students worked together to create a community curtain inspired by the artist, Rebecca Louise Law. They made one string that represented themselves through adjectives that describe who they are. Words like kind, respectful, determined, creative, athletic, and funny filled the student's strings. They each wrote their name at the bottom of their string with a word that describes them (brother, sister, daughter, son, soccer player, artist, friend, student, etc.) The project made us see how we relate to each other yet are also completely unique individuals. We worked on respecting artwork that is displayed in the school as we used gentle hands to view the work, we used polite words when talking about the work, and took ownership because we created it.
