About this School Project (Starry Night Portrait - 3rd)
Third grade artists studied the painting, The Starry Night, by Vincent Van Gogh. They learned that people did not appreciate Van Gogh's artwork until after he passed away, and thought of things that they would say to Vincent Van Gogh if they met him. They created a background inspired by this artwork. After that, they created a self-portrait. We talked about the kind words they would say to Vincent Van Gogh, and that we need to make sure we say kind words to ourselves. Some students added kind words to their artworks.
