PROJECT
For the second project in our NATURE ART unit, let's continue to explore earth as a source of inspiration (and materials) towards the creation of art. Let's create NATURE SCULPTURES. We'll begin by painting our canvas panel bases with tempera paint to create SATURATION. Next, we'll create a sculpture that contains HEIGHT, WIDTH, and DEPTH and looks interesting (and different) from each side.
MATERIALS
Canvas Boards
Tempera Paints + Brushes + Palettes
Rocks
Sticks
Shells
Pine Cones
Starfish
Cool Glue Guns + Glue Sticks
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS
What is a sculpture?
How can we use our paint brushes to apply paint that creates saturation?
OBJECTIVES
Differentiate flat art (two-dimensions) from sculpture (three dimensions).
Create art with height, width, and depth (viewed from all sides).
Recognize the characteristics of nature art and the work of Andy Goldsworthy.
Connect the earth and its resources as a stage for art creation.
RESOURCES
Andy Goldsworthy Presentation (Teacher-Created Powerpoint Presentation + Videos)
