About this School Project (Thiebaud-style Desserts)
Students in third through seventh grades were introduced to Pop Artist Wayne Thiebaud and his delicious dessert art. Third and Fourth grades used oil pastel to create frosted cakes and Fifth and Sixth grades painted ice cream sodas using tints and shades and the impasto technique. They then went back and used their knowledge of tints and shades to add shadow and highlight. (Both versions are shown here.) Seventh grade painted pies with acrylic and impasto, showing shadow.
Most recently, first and second grades drew cupcakes with oil pastel.
