About this School Project (1st Gr. Vincent van Gogh Inspired Starry Night)
Students looked very purposefully at the form of Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night painting. They identified the different lines and shapes he used. Lines and shapes are two of the elements of art, the ingredients that make up every work of art. Students then followed along with Ms. Gosses to use lines, shapes, and varying amounts of space to make their own version of The Starry Night. Students chose the type of paint and colors they felt would work best for their sky. Ask your student if they ysed watercolors, tempera cakes, paint markers, or watercolor pencils! Why did they choose the colors that they did?
Students were working toward the following Ohio Visual Art Standards:
1.1CR Differentiate between personal ideas and the ideas of others when developing artmaking concepts.
1.2PE Engage with materials and tools to develop artmaking skills.
1.3CR Experiment with various elements of art to communicate meaning.
