About this School Project (2nd grade Art Club - Flower Collage inspired by Yayoi Kusama)
Students in 2nd grade Art Club explored the work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, known as the "princess of polka dots." Kusama works in many mediums but one unifying element is her use of polka dots to represent infinity. After noticing details of Kusama's large-than-life sculptures from a series titled "The Flowers that Bloom at Midnight," students created their own flower collage using shape and color choices reminiscent of Kusama's work, and of course...polka dots!
